‘Everyone will greet you without crowding’: Tom Cruise reveals he loves spending time in Britain because ‘everyone is so nice’ while filming Mission: Impossible in the Lake District

Tom Cruise has said that he loves spending time in Britain because “everyone is nice” and no one tries to “crowd him”.

The 60-year-old actor has been in the UK in recent months while filming scenes for Mission: Impossible: The Dead Count, Part One.

The movie star said she enjoys relaxing here and has found everyone she’s met to have “good manners.”

Speaking to Derbyshire Live, he said: “Everyone is nice and will nod or wave to you without crowding.” I was brought up to have good manners and you really get that in Britain.

“I also like the fact that I am walking the same streets as Shakespeare, Dickens and even The Beatles. That’s really cool.

Tom added: ‘I guess I’m an Anglophile. I spend a lot of time in Britain and it’s not just for work. I love being here.

The actor spent a lot of time in the UK over the summer and was seen attending the Queen’s Jubilee, a women’s final at Wimbledon and The Rolling Stones and Adele concerts in Hyde Park.

Tom also celebrated his 60th birthday in the Cotswolds and was reportedly joined by stars including David Beckham, James Corden and Gordon Ramsay.

He was also in London for the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in May, where he mingled with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

In recent weeks, Tom has been seen filming daredevil stunts in the Lake District, including showing off his skydiving skills as he dove to the ground while performing stunts in the sky in scenes filmed earlier this month.

Tom is known for being friendly on set and the actor said he tries not to “set himself apart” from other people.

Earlier this month, a group of local hikers in the Lake District were shocked when they stumbled upon Tom filming Mission: Impossible.

Adam Wheeler and Lucy Hinch from County Durham were out for a ride with their Siberian Husky Blitz when they spotted the Hollywood star filming his latest blockbuster.

The actor, who was being airlifted to High Cragg before flying to Buttermere, happily posed for a photograph with the couple, before thanking them and hopping back on.

Speaking to The Northern Echo, Adam said several people wanted photos with Tom, who happily agreed.

He said: ‘He was kind, polite and really humble. Tom Cruise apologized for the noise from the helicopters and asked if we were okay.

“He was making sure that everyone who wanted to had their photos with him. We were the last to take the picture of him and then he just paraglided down the mountain back to his campsite next to Buttermere.

“It was a real pleasure to meet one of the most famous famous actors in Hollywood, one of the richest too. Not what we expected as we walked the moors.

The pair added that they watched some of the footage, with Tom performing all of his own stunts while paragliding multiple times.

The film will star Tom alongside Hayley Atwell, Hot Fuzz star Simon Pegg, Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson and The Princess Bride star Cary Elwes.
