Selena Gomez has a name for the transplanted kidney she received five years ago.

The 30-year-old actress revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that she named the donated organ ‘Fred’.

“I named it after Fred Armisen because I love Portlandia,” the Only Murders in the Building star explained. I’ve never met him, but I secretly hope he finds out just because I want him to say, “That’s weird.”

The Ice Cream singer was diagnosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disease, in 2015.

According to Lupus.org, the condition affects the skin, joints, and organs such as the kidney and liver.

Selena’s friend and fellow actress, Francia Raisa, 34, donated a kidney to her in 2017.

Gift of life: Selena announced that she had received the gift of life from her friend Francia Raisa, 34, writing on social media, “She gave me the best gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.” I am incredibly blessed. I love you sister.’

When announcing the gift of life on social media, Selena shared a photo of her and France next to hospital beds writing a heartfelt thank you.

“There are no words to describe how I can thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Selena wrote. “She gave me the best gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you sister.’

The procedure was not without its side effects for the How I Met Your Father actress.

In a July 2022 interview with Yahoo Life, France revealed that she had to change her diet, limiting protein intake to three to five ounces at a time and drinking “at least two to three liters of water a day.”

I can feel the difference if I don’t. she admitted: ‘I get nauseous when I get dehydrated and it’s just not good.’ I feel wet.
