Sports pundit Steven A. Smith told comedian Bill Maher on a podcast that he considers him one of the most trusted political commentators on television.

The sensational comment came during Smith’s appearance on the 32nd episode of the Maher’s Club Random podcast, released on Sunday.

The two TV personalities explored a variety of topics, including their common roots in New York and their shared hesitation towards the Covid vaccine.

They also discussed the political divide in the US In particular, Smith told Maher that he considered him one of the most trusted figures on television.

The policy emerged as Smith spoke about his general lack of trust in politicians in the ‘nation’s capital’.

Smith goes on to express his frustration with the polarization of American politics and the “two-party system”.

“They’ve tried to convince us, because of this two-party system that we’re dealing with, that you’re on the right or you’re on the left and you can’t be independent,” Smith said on the podcast.

He argued that because most pundits pick sides, it can be difficult to trust them, but he makes an exception for Maher.

‘Listen, I know you’re a liberal,’ he told her.

‘I can’t stress enough how much I applaud the things you say when you call either side.

“The fact is, in this day and age when you watch all these channels, Bill Maher, I can make a legitimate argument, you are more trustworthy than almost anyone on television when it comes to politics. ‘

Maher agreed with Smith’s characterization of his politics and the neutrality of his analysis.

“You’re absolutely right,” Maher said.

I’ll just say what’s real, I mean, that’s my brand. That’s what I’m selling. I know when politicians come to my show.

Maher told Smith that every time the staff proposes that a politician come on their show, an ‘eye roll’ is triggered.

‘Because being a sitting politician, you’re going to be a talking point, full of shit, not necessarily full of shit, but you stick to your story.

“They’re not talking like us,” Maher added regarding the conversation the two had had during the podcast.
