Justin Herbert received X-rays of the rib injury that clearly affected him during Thursday Night Football’s 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Herbert was on the receiving end of a hard hit from the Chiefs defense when he threw a pass while trying to lead the Los Angeles Chargers to a fourth-quarter comeback.
According to multiple reports, Herbert underwent an X-ray of his rib cage after the game to determine the extent of the damage.

Team doctors tended to Herbert for several minutes before he went to the bench. He would return to the game after just one play.
Herbert stayed on the field for several minutes while the coaches tended to him, then returned after spending just one play on the sidelines.
After returning to the game, Herbert would eventually lead the Chargers down the field to score a touchdown and bring his team within three points as the game wound down. During the drive, Herbert hit a 35-yard pass in a quarter and one that set social media on fire.
Herbert’s overall stats on the night were impressive, as he threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns after completing 33 of 48 passes.
According to Chargers coach Brandon Staley, Herbert was “fine” after the game.

“Justin Herbert is fine,” Staley said. It was a tough game. You’re not going to see a quarterback at any level of football play harder…there’s no one who can do what he can do.’
Fortunately for the Chargers, though, they’ll get a few extra days off before next week’s game against the Jaguars.
While Chargers fans will cross their fingers that Herbert’s ribs are okay, it’s worth noting that he was gifted his first start after a freak rib injury to former teammate Tyrod Taylor.
Taylor was receiving a painkilling injection from one of the team’s doctors when a mistake led to his lung being punctured during the procedure.
Herbert is pictured throwing one of his three touchdowns in Thursday night’s loss.
