Brisbane teen Emily Nicole Thompson allegedly murdered by Aaron Daniel Mitchelson Huckel in Nambour

The last photo posted by a teenage girl before her ex-boyfriend murdered her has allegedly been revealed as friends and family share fond memories of her.

Emily Nicole Thompson, 18, was allegedly killed by Aaron Daniel Mitchelson Huckel, 19, after police said the pair met in a car park in Strathpine, north Brisbane, on Saturday.

Police tracked down Huckel at a service station in Nambour before finding Ms Thompson’s body in a nearby bush on Sunday.

The young woman uploaded a touching photo of herself to Facebook just 24 hours before meeting her ex.

It was published without a title and is believed to be the last image of the tragic teenager.

On Monday, when Huckel was due to appear in court charged with her murder, Ms. Thompson was remembered by friends and family for her kind and gentle nature.

‘Emily was a smart, kind and loving girl. It was never about Emily, it was always about her family and her friends,” Tracey Pelling, a spokeswoman for Ms. Thompson’s family, told 7News.

‘He had his whole life ahead of him. Her family is devastated and in shock trying to understand what her lives will be like without her Emily.

Ms Pelling added that Ms Thompson was a “dearest daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece and friend” who was “taken away” from her family under the “worst circumstances”.

Mr. Thompson’s school, Pine River High School, described her as a “friendly, enthusiastic, high-achieving student who will be sorely missed by her friends and teachers.”

Queensland Police allege that Ms Thompson and her Huckel were found in a car park on Bells Pocket Rd in Strathpine at around 4:30 p.m.

His distraught family called the police at 7 pm after the teenager did not return home.

Police tracked Huckel to a service station on Currie St in Nambour, some 80km from where he reportedly met Ms Thompson alone and arrested him around 8:30 p.m.

Ms. Thompson’s body was discovered around 3am on Sunday, approximately 1km from the service station.

Huckel was charged with murder and misconduct with a corpse for allegedly moving his ex-girlfriend’s body.

He was refused bail and was scheduled to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday but did not appear.

He was placed on remand with an additional citation scheduled for Pine River Magistrates Court on October 31.

Detective Inspector Ben Fadian said Mrs Thompson’s ‘loving parents’ were aware of the discovery.

“It is a tragic fact, the young woman is 18 years old, she had her whole life ahead of her,” he said.

‘This is a good young lady… and this has happened to her. It’s a tragedy.

“The young woman’s family have been informed and, as I would appreciate, they are devastated.”

Police set up crime scenes in the parking lot, the gas station and the bushes where the woman’s body was found.

Inspector Fadian said the couple’s “intimate relationship” had recently ended.

Police said there were no domestic violence warrants in place and there was no history of Ms. Thompson or Huckel contacting police.about anything of that nature.

“At this stage we have no evidence that there are other parties involved in this,” he added.

Detectives are interviewing Ms. Thompson’s friends and family to find out if there was any prior violence in the relationship that police are unaware of.

Police have asked anyone who saw a white 2016 Ford Mustang or a blue 2012 Mazda 3 near Rob Ackers Sports Reserve (above) to come forward.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman’s cause of death as police continue to investigate where she was killed.

The woman’s car was found in the Strathpine parking lot where she initially met her former partner.

Police also seized several items from the crime scenes that are being investigated by coroners.

Anyone who has seen a white 2016 Ford Mustang or a blue 2012 Mazda 3 near Rob Ackers Sports Reserve, Strathpine, between 4pm and 6pm should contact the police.

Police are also looking for anyone who saw a white 2016 Ford Mustang on Park Rd, Nambour, between 6pm and 8:30pm.
