Kathmandu. The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that there could be a shortage of syringes (vaccines) from next year as the vaccination campaign against coronavirus continues.
According to the organization, there could be a shortage of about 200 million needles worldwide next year. According to a WHO report, syringes are being widely used around the world because of the corona vaccine.
So far, more than 725 million doses of coronavirus vaccine have been used worldwide. There are first dose, second dose and booster dose. This amount of vaccine is usually more than double the total number of vaccines given in a year. One needle is used for each dose so the needle consumption has doubled each year.
According to Lisa Headman, senior adviser to the WHO’s Department of Medicine and Health Products, “Syringe shortage is a concern next year. This slows down the vaccine. It also has a serious impact on efforts to prevent many diseases. ”
