On March 27, 2021, Francis Ngannou won the UFC Heavyweight Champion in a rematch against the former champion, the greatest of all time, Stipe Miocic. Due to undisclosed reasons, Dana White, the UFC President, announced that they will now have an interim title fight between the former teammate of Francis Ngannou, Ciryl Gane versus the black beast Derrick Lewis.

Ciryl won the match in a devastating fashion beating the homeboy Derrick Lewis by TKO in his own city of Texas, US. He displayed savage skills and proved to be the legit threat by dismantling the knock out artist Lewis, who holds the record for the highest knockouts in UFC history. During the match with Derrick, Gane showed his excellent agility and movement speed that made him look like a 150 pounder despite being a 240+ in the division. The way he beat Black Beast, people started assuming that Ciryl will become the next undisputed HW champion.

Now, here’s the problem, he is fighting against Francis Ngannou this week, who is not just a KO artist like Derrick but also technically efficient. He showed the improvements during the Stipe Miocic rematch when he won the championship last year. However, he previously lost to Derrick, making people belive that Ciryl is going to take over this match. The leaked footage of Gane and Ngannou added more fuel to the fire where Ciryl is found getting the upper hand. We are just days away to find out what really happens and who’s going to emerge on top as the baddest man on the planet by winning the UFC Heavyweight Gold.

As of this writing, Joe Rogan, the UFC commentator, journalist, and announcer, one of the best in the industry, has stated in a podcast that it is really tough task to dictate the outcome of this mega-fight. Rogan declared Gane as the best moving heavyweight that he has ever seen, how he understands the game and executes everything flawlessly. So, according to Joe, if Francis can find a way to slow down his opponent in a way that Derrick could not discover, he has chances of winning. But it seems with his comments that he belives Ciryl is going to win if he’s able to avoid that big power shot, that could send him to the world where time doesn’t exists.

On the other hand, Tapology is a public forum where combat sports fan can submit their predictions and discuss the fight. Out of almost 1200 community predictions, 61% voted on the favor of Ciryl Gane winning whereas 39% voted that Ngannou will win. So, at this stage, Francis is clearly an underdog for the UFC and Fighting community. Similarly, the betting odds for Ciryl Gane is -150 and Francis Ngannou +130 in Draft Kings, whereas BetMGM gives +120 to Ngannou and -145 to Gane.
