Babies are usually born at 9 months or 40 weeks after conception. But in the southeastern state of Alabama, a baby is born in a very short time. These babies are born at 21 weeks or 147 days. These babies born in a very short time have been certified as the babies born in the shortest time in the world.
The baby, named Curtis Mins, was born on July 4, 2020. He weighed 420 grams at birth. The 16-month-old Curtis has been confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records to be the world’s youngest baby.
About 19 weeks ago, the baby was born from the womb of mother Michael Butler. Although Butler gave birth to twins, Kisya, who was born with Curtis, died shortly after birth.
At the time, Curtis’ chances of survival were only 1 percent, doctors said. Curtis, who was placed on a ventilator after birth, was discharged from the hospital three months later.
