The UK's extraordinary beauty caught on camera in 2022's Landscape Photographer of the Year awards

This beautiful shot impressed the judges enough to bag the gold medal in the Classic View category. It shows a rainbow sweeping over Dragon's Back - the ridges of Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill - in the Peak District. On the day he took the picture, Demi Oral knew that thunderstorms were forecast and so headed to the site - one of his favourite locations - in the hopes of seeing a rainbow appear. He says: 'Whilst I wasn't surprised when it did, I still could not believe what unfolded in front of me. The apparition of the rainbow was wonderful, but the light sweeping across the Dragon's Back was just sensational.' He adds: 'It was a thrilling afternoon I'll never forget'

New book reveals amazing drone shots of pools (including Robert Downey Jr's stunning private lagoon)

Behold, Walls' favourite photograph from the book, taken at a house in Los Angeles. He reveals that he was the first photographer to be granted access to the property in 40 years. 'The owners love and cherish their property and are very selective with who they let in,' he explains, adding that he 'even had security personnel' with him on the shoot. 'For this reason, it stands out to me,' he says. Walls describes the dwelling, which was designed by the lauded American architect John Lautner, as 'arguably the most renowned piece of architecture, if not in Los Angeles but in Malibu'. 'I hope I did the pool justice,' he adds

Through the keyhole: Inside London's grandest houses, from 10 Downing Street to the Italian Embassy

10 DOWNING STREET, WHITEHALL: The connection between the government and No. 10 was first made in 1735 when Sir Robert Walpole moved in as First Lord of the Treasury, but the 'man who really established the house as the residence of the Prime Minister' was William Pitt, who used it as a 'summer townhouse' until the early 1800s, the book reveals. Since Arthur Balfour became Prime Minister in 1902, 'every holder of the office has lived and worked at No. 10'. The property's 'greatest challenge' came during the Blitz in World War II when bombs 'fell all around' the house. A rebuild was later carried out that retained the 'external design and internal historical features'. This picture shows The Pillared Room, a space complete with portraits of Elizabeth I and Lady Byron that's used for the Prime Minister¿s receptions. It's one of the staterooms that Margaret Thatcher had remodelled 'with the confidence of the afterglow of the Falklands War', as she felt the rooms were originally 'too plain and masculine', Stourton notes
If you had the key to some of London’s grandest homes, what would you discover inside? This question is answered by Great Houses of London by James Stourton, published by Frances Lincoln, a book that tells the ‘fascinating stories hidden... Read more
