JK Rowling appeared deep in concentration as she looked on during day one of the Laver Cup at London’s O2 Arena on Friday.

The 57-year-old author sat in the crowd at the event, where Roger Federer will play his farewell doubles match on Friday night.

Before taking her seat, she was seen in a black coat and mauve jumper as she posed next to the massive silver cup with husband Neil Murray, 51.

The Swiss tennis legend revealed earlier this month that the London tournament would be the final competition of his career, having battled a series of injuries in recent years.

And as he headed onto the pitch on Friday, where he will partner Spaniard Rafael Nadal, he was greeted with a chorus and applause from fans in the audience.

For the final match of his 24-year career, Federer played alongside his long-term competitor for Team Europe against American duo Jack Sock and Francis Tiafoe.

The 41-year-old sported a relaxed figure backstage, as he spoke with team captain Bjorn Borg and teammates Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berrettini, before heading onto the pitch.

Federer had previously spoken of his desire to play alongside Nadal, before European team captain Borg helped the tennis legend fulfill his wish.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion, who ranks third in the men’s all-time tally, retires as one of the greatest to ever step on the court, claiming an impressive total of 103 singles titles on the ATP Tour. .

The Laver Cup, which Federer helped establish in 2017, sees Team Europe take on Team World in tennis’s version of golf’s Ryder Cup, with nine singles and three doubles matches at London’s O2 Arena.
