According to the Què T’hi Jugues YouTube channel, the long-awaited new midfielder salary discussion will happen at the end of the season with both sides eager to find a solution.
If talks between De Jong and Laporta are positive, it should end the speculation that has surrounded the 25-year-old all summer.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea were linked to the Dutchman during the transfer window and a move to the Premier League seemed almost done at one stage.
United, Athletic had reportedly reached an agreement with Barcelona for the signing of De Jong, but due to the player’s desire to stay at the Camp Nou, the move never materialised.
