North Korea has instructed people from remote villages to mobilize for the project. Authorities in the capital, Pyongyang, have ordered the deployment of people from remote areas due to delays in project construction.
A source told Radio Free Asia (RFA) that the government had instructed the villagers to mobilize as the ambitious housing project in the capital was not completed on time.
The capital, Pyongyang, has a population of about 3 million. The government, led by Kim Jong Un, launched a housing project last January because of a lack of housing for that number of people.
According to the project, the target was to complete 10,000 residential buildings by the end of 2021 and 50,000 residential buildings by 2025.
He said that the construction work was started immediately after the plan was launched but it was delayed due to various reasons.
