Corona virus infection in snow leopards in the United States

A snow leopard from a zoo in Kentucky, USA, has been added to the list of animals infected with the corona virus. According to the international media, the female leopard has tested positive for the virus. The national laboratory there has confirmed this.

Snow leopards tested positive for cough and shortness of breath. Tigers and lions were also confirmed infected with the virus at the Bronx Zoo in New York last April. The tigers and lions were healthy without any problems. Snow leopards are expected to be similarly healthy.

Experts say that the changed character of the virus is responsible for the virus infection in animals. According to him, this reduces the effectiveness of the vaccine. So far, the virus has not been transmitted to humans from dogs and cats.
