Biden attacks GOP leader Kevin McCarthy's 'thin' Commitment to America

President Joe Biden attacked House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's

President Joe Biden attacked House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy’s ‘meager’ commitment, mocking him for ‘seriously’ saying he will ‘restore faith’ in the US election, in another speech attacking MAGA Republicans.

Biden appeared before a crowd at the National Education Association headquarters in Washington on Friday afternoon for a Democratic National Committee political event, where he devoted significant attention to the earlier appearance by McCarthy and House Republicans in Pennsylvania.

“After opposing and obstructing everything we tried to do to stop progress for the past two years, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy went to Pennsylvania and revealed what he calls a “Commitment to America.” Biden said. “That’s a thin set of policy goals with a limited amount of detail that he says Republicans are going to pursue if they regain control of Congress.”

President Joe Biden attacked House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s “meager” commitment, mocking him for saying “seriously” that he will “restore faith” in the US election.

‘Pledge to America’ carries great weight on immigration and law enforcement, to push back the border issue of Biden and the Democrats and progressive calls to ‘defund the police’, a stance in which the president is against.

It also includes a ‘Parents’ Bill of Rights’ and Big Tech censorship boards, among other items.

“Over the course of almost an hour, here are some of the things we didn’t hear,” Biden said on NEA. We did not hear him mention the right to choose. We don’t hear him mention Medicare. We didn’t hear him mention Social Security.

What McCarthy talked about, Biden said, was preserving constitutional liberty.

‘That sounds great. I am also in favor of doing that, we all are,” said the president. But he looks at what they have actually done.

‘The MAGA Republicans just cheered and embraced the first Supreme Court decision in our entire history, the first in our entire history, that simply didn’t fail to preserve a constitutional liberty, it actually took away a fundamental right that had been granted by the same court to so many Americans: the constitutional right to choose,” Biden said.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy introduced House Republicans’ “Pledge to America” on Friday in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, outside of Pittsburgh.

Republicans of all persuasions have embraced the Dobbs decision, which overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade in 1973 and returned abortion laws to the states.

There is some debate among Republicans, especially after GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced a nationwide 15-week ban bill, about whether to try to ban abortion at the federal or state level.

“If they win Congress, I will veto it,” Biden said of Graham’s abortion ban bill.

McCarthy’s Pledge to America mentions preserving the rights of the unborn, but during his appearance with other Republican lawmakers in Monongahela, they did not put their position on abortion front and center.

Instead, McCarthy promised that the first bill to pass a House Republican majority would be to “repeal 87,000 IRS agents,” a figure Republicans took from a Treasury Department assessment of how many IRS employees could be hired using the allocation of $80 billion in the Inflation Reduction Act. , to stir up opposition to the bill.

He and other top Republicans also promised there would be plenty of investigations: into the tumultuous pullout from Afghanistan, the origins of COVID-19, and, as Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan put it, the ‘weaponization of the Justice Department against the Americans’. people.’

“And finally, with all seriousness, Kevin McCarthy says MAGA Republicans will restore faith in our elections,” Biden continued. ‘As we say in my faith: “Bless me father because I have sinned”. Restore? Restore faith in our choices? said the president laughing.

“The MAGA Republicans refused to accept the results of the 2020 election,” he added.

Biden also hinted that the MAGA brand, aligned with former President Donald Trump, was not strong in the general election.

Both he and his chief of staff, Ron Klain, have predicted in recent days that Democrats could retain control of the House and Senate. Historically, the party in the White House loses seats during a first midterm election cycle.

“You see the Republican MAGA program being tailored by all these people in the primaries and then once they get out of the primaries they are trying like crazy to get out from under that,” Biden said.
