At least 91 people have been killed and more than 100 injured when an oil tanker exploded in Sierra Leone. Although the government has not released the exact number of dead, a manager in the capital’s central Freetown said he had managed 91 bodies.
More than 100 injured people have been admitted to hospitals and clinics around the capital city for treatment. Among the injured were some people who went to collect oil from the leaking tanker. The head of the National Disaster Management Agency, Brima Bure Sesse, said many people had died in the blaze. “It was a terrible accident,” he said.
In the photo shared on social media, the injured can be seen badly burnt by the fire. The fire also damaged nearby shops and houses.
